Working on unreleased tracks?

ImgTool is built around a private browser workflow, so your track stays on your device while you build release visuals, Canvas clips, and export packs. That is the main difference versus tools that need you to upload audio to a server first.

Common questions

Is it really free?
Yes. The core visualizer is free to use with no account required to try it. 720p exports stay fully free, free HD exports use the support watermark by default, with two free watermark-off HD exports before it stays on, and the £5 10-Day Release Pass is there when you need clean, watermark-free HD, ongoing 4K, and release-week tools. If you buy the pass, checkout uses your email to send the licence key.
Are my audio files uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using the Web Audio API and Canvas. Your audio files never leave your device, which makes ImgTool useful for unreleased tracks and private release prep.
What browser should I use?
Chrome gives the best performance and encoding quality. Edge works well too. Firefox and Safari are supported but may export more slowly, especially at higher resolutions.
What format does the video export in?
On supported Chrome or Edge browsers, Quality-first is the recommended export route and can save WebM or MP4 using H.264/AAC. Legacy real-time stays available as the fastest live WebM path.
Can I export in 4K?
Yes — 720p is fully free, free HD exports use the support watermark by default, with two free watermark-off HD exports before it stays on, and you get one free watermarked 4K test export per device. Built-in demos can still showcase 4K on supported setups, and the 10-Day Release Pass unlocks clean, watermark-free HD and ongoing 4K. For 4K, use a computer with a quick processor and keep the scene sensible. Quality-first is the recommended route on supported Chrome or Edge browsers, while legacy real-time remains available as a faster fallback.
Why use Playlist Maker instead of Live Set Mode Beta?
Use Playlist Maker when you want a finished YouTube playlist or mix video from multiple exported song videos. Export one song file per track in Batch Tracks, then join those files into one final playlist video, which is the safer route for planned 720p or 1080p / 30fps long-form exports. Use Live Set Mode Beta when you want live playback, rehearsals, OBS/browser-source streaming, or a performance-style controller. Playlist Maker is still labelled beta while longer joined exports get wider testing.
How does the 10-Day Release Pass work?
You pay £5 once via Lemon Squeezy. Checkout uses your email to deliver the licence key, but you do not need an ImgTool account. The 10-Day Release Pass unlocks clean, watermark-free HD and 4K exports, removes the support watermark, adds release-week tools like Spotify Canvas, X Exports, Release Pack, Batch Tracks, and Playlist Maker, and keeps everything in the same private browser workflow. After your first paid pass, Spotify Canvas stays unlocked on that browser as a small extra perk.
If there is no account, how does ImgTool remember my pass?
After checkout, Lemon Squeezy emails you a licence key. When you activate it, ImgTool stores the pass state locally in this browser on this device, so there is no ImgTool login to create. If you use another browser, another device, or clear site data, you can paste the key again from your email. After your first paid 10-Day, 30-Day, or Annual Pass, Spotify Canvas also stays unlocked on that browser.
What if something goes wrong before I activate my key?
Haven't activated your key yet and something went wrong? Email [email protected] within 24 hours and we'll make it right.
